Cnect Wales Celebrates Success of Pre-Employment Skills Programme

Eight months after the launch of its transformative Pre-Employment Skills Programme, Cnect Wales is proud to report significant progress in helping unemployed individuals enhance their skills and confidence, paving the way for meaningful careers in the customer service industry.

Committed to fostering talent and creating meaningful opportunities within the customer service sector, Cnect Wales developed this training programme, provided through Cnect Talent, to help bridge the gap between skilled individuals and vacant positions in the industry.

Since its inception in April the programme, which is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, has provided free, comprehensive training to nearly 50 candidates. Courses are committed to continue running until March 2025.

Christine Allen, who leads participant engagement, continues to work closely with community hubs, job centres and other organisations to build a pool of motivated individuals who upon completion of the programme are ready to make a positive impact in the workplace from day one.

Programme Highlights

  • Courses Delivered: Six training courses have been successfully completed.
  • Participants Engaged: 48 individuals aged 18–65 have accessed free training designed to boost their employability, with 50% securing interviews with major employers, including Starling Bank, All Clear Insurance, and Legal & General.
  • Jobs Secured: 10% of participants have received job offers, with more successes anticipated in the months ahead.

Ensuring the courses are diverse and inclusive is another important aspect for Cnect Wales.

So far, the gender split across the course delivery has been 50% Female, 39.6% Male, 4.1% Transgender, and 6.3% Not specified and the courses have attracted candidates from a range of different ethnicities including 12.5% Asian, 18.8% Black, 16.6% Mixed race, 35.4% White, 12.5% Not specified and 4.2% Other ethnic groups.

The programme has received glowing testimonials from participants:

  • “I feel confident and well-prepared for any interview.”
  • “It was amazing—from the outstanding instructor to my course mates. Wonderful people, top-notch training.”.”
  • “The level of training was exceptional—better than some university professors I’ve had. 10/10!”

Sandra Busby, Managing Director of Cnect Wales, highlighted the programme’s success:

“This initiative addresses critical challenges faced by both job seekers and employers. By equipping participants with essential skills and connecting them to job opportunities, we’re helping individuals transform their lives while providing our members with work-ready talent. It’s a win-win solution.”

Cnect Wales remains fully committed to running these courses until March 2025, continuing its mission to fostering talent and creating meaningful opportunities within Wales’ customer service sector.
