Mehreen Ashraf

Mehreen Ashraf – Founder, Responsible AI Collective

Mehreen is the founder of the Responsible AI Collective, a training and advisory initiative that supports organisations and individuals in adopting AI responsibly. She regularly delivers workshops, executive education and tech consultancy for businesses, public sector bodies, and community groups, helping them to navigate AI with responsibility, inclusivity, and impact. Mehreen is also an assistant professor in Management, Employment and Organisations at Cardiff Business School, where she leads teaching and research on responsible digital transformation, generative AI, and the future of work.

Laura Alexander

Laura Alexander – Head of Data Services, Hodge Bank

Laura Alexander has been Head of Data Services at Hodge since 2021. In this role, she has played a key part in fostering a data-centric culture that supports strategic decision-making, enhances customer experience and strengthens governance. She leads a multi-disciplinary team across data governance, science and analytics and is a trusted voice on the executive leadership team. Her career journey began with analytical and operational roles at SSE, followed by senior posts at Target Group, before joining Hodge. Alongside her professional career, Laura is the Founder of the Data Inclusivity Network, an initiative that has established a thriving community supporting underrepresented groups in technology. She is also an active member of the Wales Women in STEM Council, CCR Strategic Advisory Panel for Data Leaders, a Business Group Member for the Duke of Edinburgh Wales and a supporter of Friends of Animals Wales.

Simon Drinkwater

Simon Drinkwater – Founder, The HR Partnership – Your AI Conscience

Simon Drinkwater is an HR and organisational development leader with 28 years’ experience helping businesses align people, culture, strategy and technology. As founder of The HR Partnership, he helps leaders build FutureFit: AI-Ready organisations—reminding them that true readiness isn’t a project, but a long-term journey of learning, trust, and transformation.

  • 14:05 – 14:35 – Dr Mehreen Ashraf, Cardiff Business School. Mehreen will be discussing the impact of AI to people, future skills and operational viability.

  • 14:35 – 15:05 -Laura Alexander, Head of Data Services at Hodge. Laura will be sharing how we need to come together and use technology for good, whilst ensuring diversirty of thought. 

  • Five-minute comfort break

  • 15:10 – 15:40 – Simon Drinkwater, Director of The HR Partnership, Simon will set out how a fast-moving world obsessed with AI adoption is in danger of outpacing its own people. He invites business leaders to pause and think about endurance – building organisations and tea.ms that can sustain long-term, intelligent change, and not just start it.

  • 15:40 – 16:00 – Expert Panel Q&A, Katie Feagan, Dr Mehreen Ashraf, Laura Alexander and Simon Drinkwater
